With the imminent ratification of the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention 2004, the time to begin the installation process for BWTS is now. With around 57,000 vessels soon to be required to have BWTS, this further proves the goliath task at hand for all ship owners. Harris Pye now has a dedicated Green Technology Department that offers retrofitting of 3rd party class approved ballast water treatment systems, in service or in yard, on a global scale. Harris Pye will advise on system selection with respect to suitability for the vessel in terms of space and power consumption. In addition to supplying a full turnkey solution for the installation offering the owner an objective review of costs and the work scope involved.

For an efficient and cost effective installation, comprehensive project planning is fundamental. This is why Harris Pye offers extensive project planning and detailed engineering for all projects. This includes detailed project plans, GAP analysis between owners selected systems and integration, 3D laser scanning of which the company has eight laser scanning units and two laser scanning arms, 3D modelling of installation and Isometric drawings for prefabrication, a dedicated, skilled project team liaising and coordinating with the client on a daily basis ensuring a streamline installation process and minimising disruption to ships staff.

With facilities worldwide, prefabrication of necessary spool pieces owners can benefit from local and globally discounted supply chain costs and reduced installation time during service. For the installation process, pipe installation of both GRE and conventional steel will be carried out by fully accredited artisans. The Group also provides scope work in EX areas and underwater, through fully certified technicians and 3rd party companies respectively.

In 2014/2015 the Group were awarded the multi-million dollar contract to install AEP (Advanced Emissions Purification) Systems on board five of the most prominent large cruise vessels. Three of these installations are multi Stream Systems and two are In-Line Systems procured from a leading manufacturer in this field. The installation of the AEP Scrubbing Systems will be completed while the vessels are in service, which is not without its challenges, and will be completed between 2015/2016. Due to the success of the ongoing installations, the Group are currently in negotiation for installation & integration of systems on a further 2 classes of vessel.

We are now in the final stages of negotiation for installation and integration of AEP Systems for a number of other high profile companies. This and other projects, has justified our investment in the bolstering of our Design Engineering Department and lead to the procurement of the latest software packages and upgrades to our existing systems.
