Ballast Water Treatment

The introduction of non-native species via the discharge of ship’s ballast water is one of the main threats to marine biodiversity, with alien species often capable of out-competing native species.

‘The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments’, although not fully ratified at this date could have the largest global impact on the Marine Industry in recent times. In brief, the Convention has been proposed to address the issue of transfer of marine species from one ecosystem to another.

While the  Harris Pye Group is keen to offer solutions for the actual installation of ballast water treatment systems, we now also offer a service to assist with both planning and system selection. This is designed to give vessel owners an objective overview of the costs and work scope involved in fitting the most suitable system to each vessel before making a decision on which manufacturer to select.

For more information on both system selection and installation survey – following which, we can the offer our competitive and high quality proposals for the actual installation of the systems  --  please download our informative pdf: -  here
