Harris Pye Engineering wins regional British Chambers of Commerce award

The Harris Pye Engineering Group is a rapidly expanding global organisation with active involvement in many key marine, oil and gas, offshore and industrial sectors. Operating worldwide on a 24/7 basis, our emphasis is on cost effective repair, preventative maintenance and conversion work. Over the past 10 years, the Group has successfully developed a range of services to the offshore oil industry which include in situ repair, upgrade and conversion of rigs, semi-submersibles, trading tankers, FSU, FSO, FPSO and FSRU units. Harris Pye is a multi-cultural global service provider with a focus on supplying top quality products and fast and efficient customer service.

We are proud to announce that we are the regional winners of the British Chamber of Commerce People Development Award. Only 70 businesses were selected across eight business categories from hundreds of entries across the UK – a unique achievement for a manufacturing and repair company given the prestigious nature of these awards.

This award recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in the promotion and implementation of a learning and development culture. Entrants for this award must communicate how this culture has contributed to the business achieving outstanding success, which is fundamentally supported by Harris Pye Engineering’s continued growth in to world markets and industries.

The prestigious competition recognises and promotes the best of British business through a series of regional heats, culminating in a Gala Awards dinner, which will take place in London on 26th November.

Nora Senior, President of the British Chambers of Commerce said: “The Chamber Awards recognise and celebrate the contribution of businesses to their local community and the wider economy.”

The judges will consider why learning and development is important to the organization, how training needs and skills requirements are assessed, as well as the overall investment, commitment and support given to staff and the direct benefit gained by both individuals and the organisation.

In conjunction with this, the UK branch of the Group has recently achieved incredible acknowledgment for their efforts in commitment to their staff members by being awarded Gold in Investors in People. This accreditation recognises a benchmark for best practice and highlights the support and development of staff within the organisation, cementing the Group’s position and promise for commitment to their employees.

“The company’s vision is to make Harris Pye one of the most successful engineering contract organisations in the UK. In order to achieve this we must maintain a working environment where people’s skills and personal attributes are recognised as well as rewarded. We must create an environment where everybody has the opportunity to progress and nurture our people accordingly.” David Hayden, Managing Director.
